"Lonely Sea"

Can only four elements be considered a collage? Can so few elements convey any meaning or emotion? With a surface of only 2"x3" space is precious. "Lonely Sea" was fashioned from a re-purposed game piece as I like to recycle materials whenever possible. The elements are laid out in a fairly straightforward manner. The story? You tell me!

  1. of course a collage can be succesfully made with few elements and this one proves it. i think it's lovely and it's story . . . hhhmmmmm . . .
the story is an old one but quite romantic: the lovely lady (with a secret smile) is waiting patiently for her man to come home from the sea. he carries the key (on a chain around his sun browned and handsome neck) so that he will be able to unlock the fair maiden from her boring everyday life and release her back into his strong inviting arms. the background is a bit of a handwritten love letter that she has written for him to keep always in his shirt pocket. it is wrapped in a lavendar scented linen cloth that she embroidered with anchors, sea shells and a monogram from beautiful and exotic threads that he brought to her from other (distant) lands.
